Abstract
Personal data dissemination or doxing is a serious threat in today's digital world, which can cause psychological, social, and physical damage to victims as their personal information is spread without authorization. This research is focused on two main issues: First, how regulations related to the dissemination of personal data on social media are regulated in Law Number 19 of 2016 on Electronic Information and Transactions and Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection; Second, how Law Number 19 of 2016 on Electronic Information and Transactions and Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection protect victims of doxing on social media. The research method uses a normative juridical approach by relying on library materials and document studies. The analysis is carried out on legal norms, laws and regulations, related regulations, and literature that discusses the criminal act of spreading personal data. This research includes content analysis, comparison, compatibility, and alignment to explore legal content, highlight differences in legal frameworks, evaluate implementation, and understand the interaction of different legal aspects. In Indonesia, the Law on Electronic Information and Transactions stipulates consent requirements in the use of personal information and sanctions for violations, while the Law on Personal Data Protection protects the rights of data owners, including the right to delete their personal data. This research is expected to improve understanding of the implementation of regulations related to the dissemination of personal data on social media in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Electronic Information and Transactions and the Law on Personal Data Protection, and provide recommendations to strengthen legal protection for victims of doxing in Indonesia.
