Abstract
This research discusses the rationality of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in normalising diplomatic relations between Turkey and Israel in 2022. The normalisation discourse emerged when Isaac Herzog as the president of Israel had a dialogue with Erdogan over the telephone to discuss the return of the Oknin couple to Israel. Since the conversation, president Herzog has positively welcomed the normalisation discourse between Turkey and Israel. This type of research is causal explanatory with data search using literature study. The results show that President Erdogan has gone through the stages of rationality in normalising the country's relations with Israel. Erdogan has identified the problem and the goal, which is to strengthen Turkey's influence and solve economic and energy problems, he has also identified the available options, namely normalising diplomatic relations with Israel or sticking to the Status Quo. The conclusion of this research is that economic and energy aspects are the reasons underlying President Erdogan's rationality in normalising diplomatic relations between Turkey and Israel in 2022.
