Abstract

Food is a basic need for human survival, so its availability and access must always
be met. Food availability can be the main point that supports a country's economy.
Therefore, in planning efforts to provide food in Malang Regency, information
regarding food conditions is needed. So that later we will be able to formulate
appropriate policies to develop the quality and quantity of food in Malang
Regency. The objectives of this research are: 1) analyzing food development in
Malang Regency, 2) analyzing government strategies. This research was
conducted in Malang Regency in March – April. The research method used in this
research is quantitative description using secondary data. The results of the
discussion of this research are that the development of food production in Malang
Regency over a period of 9 years, namely in 2011-2019, has changed or
fluctuated. The highest food production was in 2013, namely 1,545,315 tons,
while the lowest food production occurred in 2017, namely 961,650 tons. The
food production trend in Malang Regency reached its highest point in 2013.
Meanwhile, the trend of food production development in Malang Regency
experienced its lowest point in 2017. The strategy implemented by the Malang
Regency government includes three components, namely: agricultural land,
increasing human resources in the agricultural sector, and increasing the role of
legislative and executive institutions in agriculture. The conclusion of this
research is that the development of production and analysis of trends in the
development of food production in Malang Regency is fluctuating due to weather
and land conversion, the government has made several policies for the
development of food production in Malang Regency which include land, human
resources, and increasing the role of legislative institutions and executive.
