Abstract
This article discusses Indonesia's involvement in the ASEAN Power Grid program which is based on national interests to be addressed using the Decision Making theory (Rational Actor Model) by Graham T. Allison. The ASEAN Power Grid was established to support the fulfillment of ASEAN's energy needs and energy security, as the power grid is at the core of the energy transition agenda. This research uses an explanatory-qualitative research method that aims to explain the phenomenon in detail about the development of the ASEAN Power Grid project and Indonesia's role in it to determine the interests to be achieved. This research uses data collection techniques sourced from books, journal articles, theses, and websites. The results of this study explain that in addition to encouraging ideals for regional energy security, Indonesia's interests can be identified through projects under the auspices of the ongoing APG including Indonesia's role as a pioneer of the 2023 ASEAN chairmanship, facilitator of cross-border power trade, and to attract foreign partner investment interest.
