Abstract

Psychosomatic is physical problems that arise due to psychological stress. This condition is a common disorder that can be experienced by everyone, including early adults. Psychosomatic symptoms can be caused by many factors, one of which is the neuroticism personality type, which has characteristics of sensitivity, ease of stress, and poor regulation. The purpose of this study is to see the effect of neuroticism personality on psychosomatic. This study uses a non-experimental quantitative method with a correlational design and has a total of 220 respondents. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The instruments used consisted of two, namely the Big Five Inventory (BFI) which took items from the neuroticism dimension, and the Psychosomatic Symptoms Questionnaire (PSQ-39). Then, data analysis using the simple linear regression test. The results showed that there was a positive influence of neuroticism personality on psychosomatic symptoms. In other words, the higher the neuroticism personality score, the more susceptible a person is to experiencing psychosomatics. The contribution made by neuroticism personality to psychosomatic is 23.4%. This means that neuroticism personality is not the main factor that determines individuals who are more susceptible to psychosomatic experiences.
