Abstract
This research aims to explain the role of The Role of Women in Movement by Hayy Maahayaa through the Jejak Berantai program in realizing gender equality in the Stren Kali Jagir area, Surabaya. Hayy Maahayaa founded a movement called Women in Movement which includes an innovative program called “Jejak Berantai”. The purpose of the formation of this program is to empower women and uphold gender equality through education and community empowerment programs/workshops for women. Stren Kali Jagir was chosen because it is a marginalized area inhabited by people with various backgrounds. To find out how the role of The Role of Women in Movement by Hayy Maahayaa, through the Jejak Berantai program in realizing gender equality in the Stren Kali Jagir area, Surabaya, the concepts used in this research are the concepts of new social movements and gender equality. The research method used by the author in writing this thesis is the social research method (MPS) with descriptive research and qualitative techniques. The result of this research is that the role of The Role of Women in Movement by Hayy Maahayaa through the Jejak Berantai program aimed at women in the Stren Kali Jagir area can be said to be successful in making Stren Kali Jagir residents aware of the understanding of gender equality issues experienced by women by means of community education, empowering women and conducting workshops to the community related to gender equality issues.
