Abstract

The formation of the CTI-CFF cooperation is driven by the awareness that the coral triangle region is the center of the world's marine biodiversity and must be preserved through collective efforts. This initiative involves six countries: Indonesia, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, the Philippines, and Malaysia, collectively known as the Coral Triangle 6 (CT6). All National Plans of Action (NPoA) from CT6 countries refer to the agreed-upon Regional Plan of Action (RPoA) of the CTI-CFF to achieve common goals, one of which includes the protection of threatened species. This represents a collaborative approach by the CTI-CFF where common goals are achieved through different national actions tailored to the priorities and resources of each CT6 country. This study aims to explore the efforts made by Indonesia in protecting threatened species, specifically sharks and rays, through the CTI-CFF cooperation. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, supported by various references through literature review. The crisis conditions of sharks and rays, both globally and nationally, make these species a priority for protection in Indonesia. This study shows that Indonesia's efforts to protect threatened species (sharks and rays) include strengthening data collection and information, establishing regulations, conservation efforts, and collaboration.
