Abstract

One of the main equipment that plays a role in the power distribution system on the secondary grid as well as the service channel to the houses is the insulator. Isolators are materials that cannot or are difficult to carry electrical charges. Therefore, isolators are used as boundaries between the tensioned and the non- tensioned parts.
In field use, there are a variety of contaminants that can affect the dielectric capacity of the insulator when the water or dust clings to the surface. A pin-type insulator is one of the types of insulators used on a tangent pole and an angle pole for angles of 5° to 30° with an iron pole as a support. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse the influence of pollution on the distribution of electrical fields in an insulator. In the final task will be performed analysis of comparison of the electric field distribution on pin type insulators that are made of glass and ceramic. The method used is to use a FEM-based simulation. (Finite Element Method). As well as comparing the condition of the insulator in normal condition and the condition received water contamination and cracks on the surface of the isolator.
