Abstract

In this study, a lightning protection system is required for tall buildings to protect them from direct or indirect lightning strikes. Buildings frequently used for activities involving a large number of people, electronic devices, and flammable materials require a lightning protection system.
The impact of a lightning strike on a building can result in damage to property and loss of life. The purpose of this lightning protection system is to determine the level of lightning protection, the area covered by the lightning rod, and the grounding resistance of the 2×10MW PT SMART Tbk. Unit Tarjun Power Plant building.
This research is conducted using data collection and data analysis methods. Data collection methods include observation, measurement, literature review, and interviews. Data analysis involves determining the level of protection on the building, establishing the protection radius, and grounding termination.
The calculation results will indicate whether the lightning rod installed on the 2×10MW PT SMART Tbk. Unit Tarjun Power Plant building is sufficient to protect the entire area surrounding it.
