Abstract

This research employs a case study approach to examine the interpersonal communication between fathers and their sons in the context of self-concept formation. The subjects of this study are students enrolled in the Communication Science program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Malang. The aim of this research is to understand how interpersonal communication between fathers and sons shapes the self-concept of the child. Utilizing a case study methodology with a qualitative approach, data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings suggest that the role of a father and effective communication can contribute to the development of a positive self-concept in children. Conversely, insufficient paternal involvement and poor interpersonal communication may lead to the formation of a negative self-concept in children.
