Abstract

Students' ability to write observation report text is still low because the teacher has not used learning media and learning resources are limited to LKS books. The purpose of this study is to describe 1) student learning outcomes before using Powtoon audio-visual learning media, 2) student learning outcomes after being taught using Powtoon audio-visual media, and 3) differences in learning outcomes before and after using Powtoon audio-visual media.
The research method used is quantitative. The type of method applied is experimental by applying a one-group pretest-posttest design to measure cause and effect in a controlled manner. The sampling technique in this study used nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling. Of the 299 population, the sample was determined as the subject in this study, namely class X BM-1 totaling 26 students. Data sources in the study were obtained from student learning outcomes tests. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon match pairs test technique.
The study results in the pretest session showed the lowest student score was 63, the highest score was 94, and the overall average was 78.13%. Learning outcomes improved in the posttest session, namely the lowest score of 75, the highest score of 94, and an overall average of 84.62%. The difference in learning outcomes was used for hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon signed rank test technique. The test results show negative ranks N=2, mean rank=4.50, and sum of ranks=9.00 which means there are 2 students whose scores decreased. Furthermore, in positive ranks N = 16, mean rank = 10.13, and sum of ranks = 162.00, which means 16 students have increased scores. Then ties N = 8 which means 8 students' scores have not changed. Based on the results of the analysis with the Wilcoxon signed rank test technique, it is necessary to test the test statistics to measure the difference in medians. The test statistics test results show Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) <.001 which means <.005, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.
Based on the description above, it can be concluded that audio-visual media influences the ability to write observation report text in class X BM-1 students.
