Abstract
Phubbing is a behavior in which individuals ignore or put aside direct social interactions with other people because they are too focused on electronic devices, such as smartphones. Phubbing behavior is considered to have negative nuances and is socially disturbing, and is dominated by early adulthood. Thus, there are still many young adults who experience a decline in the quality of their friendships due to problems with phubbing behavior. This research aims to find out how big the relationship is between the quality of friendship and phubbing behavior in Indonesia. This research used a quantitative approach with a snowball sampling technique and a sample size of 196 subjects. The research instruments used were the Generic Scale of Phubbing (GSP) to measure phubbing and the Friendship Qualities Scale (FQS) to measure the quality of friendship. This research shows that there is no significant relationship between friendship quality and phubbing behavior in Indonesia.
