Abstract

Background: Fungi Malassezia is an opportunistic pathogen that causes some dematitis such as Pityriasis Versicolor where is 40-50% infects tropical climates such us Indonesia. Pityriasis Versicolor treatment uses azole drugs like miconazole but can trigger resistanceof this treatment. To reducing the resistance can use alternative herbal treatment contains flavonoid, tannins, and saponin like in a manggo seed

Objective : Test the effectiveness of mango seed extraction (Mangifera indica L.) on the growth of Malassezia furfur.

Method: This study uses True experiment design method with Post-test only group design. Using Malassezia Furfur fungus samples and solid and liquid dilution methods with 10 concentrations of mango seed 100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.125%, 1.5%, 0.78%, 0.39% 0% Data analysis using Kruskal wallis and post-hoc (mann-whitney) crucial tests
Results: The results showed that the Minimal Inhibition of Mango seed Extract (Mangifera indica L.) against Malassezia furfur fungus began show effect on concentration 1.56% while the minumin fungucidal concentration obtained a result of 6.25%. Howell's Post Hoc Games test showed significant results (p<0.05) starting from 0.78% onwards, which means that giving mango seed extract can have an effect on decreasing Malassezia furfur colonies.
Conclusion: Mango seed extract (Manggifera Indica L.) is effective in inhibiting the growth of Malassezia furfur fungus.
