Abstract
Self-acceptance is an attitude of accepting oneself and understanding the strengths
and weaknesses in oneself. Body image is a picture of perceptions related to one's body
appearance, when an individual accepts herself for all the advantages and disadvantages she
has, a positive assessment of her body is formed. Middle-aged women experience physical
changes in the form of aging, in this change forming a perception of their body image. The
purpose of the study was to determine the effect of self-acceptance on the body image of middleaged women. This study used a quantitative correlational approach method with accidental
sampling technique, the subjects in this study were women domiciled in Malang City aged 40-
65 years totalling 168 respondents. The instruments used are self-acceptance scale referring to
Sheerer's theory and body image scale referring to MBSRQ-AS scale. Data analysis in the study
used simple regression analysis. The results showed that self-acceptance affects body image by
50%. This means that the higher the self-acceptance, the more positive the body image of
middle-aged women.
