DUKUNGAN KELUARGA DALAM MENDAMPINGI KLIEN KANKER PAYUDARA

Background: Breast cancer is a pathological condition when the cells in the breast change and grow abnormally, starting from the lobules (mammary glands) or the ducts that connect the lobules to the nipple. Family support is a from service behavior carried out by family members, support in emotional, appreciation, instrumental and information support. Providing adeuqate family support will have an impact on the quality of life and the chemotherapy treatment process. Objective: To determine family support in accompanying post-chemotherapy breast cancer clients. Methods: This is a qualitative descriptive research method using a case study research approach. Data collection used semi-structured interviews and documentation methods, data triangulation as a data validity test, participant selection used the porpusive sampling methods. Result: After conducting interview with P1, P2, and P3, 4 themes were found, namely: 1) Instrumental Support, 2) Appreciative Support, 3) Emotional Support, 4) Information Support. Discussion: Family support for breast cancer clients plays a very impportant role for breast cancer sufferers to improve their quality of life and their health status, where the role of the family is really needed to provide enthusiasm, motivation, control and a sense of emphaty. The support provided includes four aspects, namely Emotional Support, Aprreciation Support, Instrumental Support, and Information Support.
