Abstract

This research discusses the efforts made by Malang City Police investigators in handling cases of drug trafficking and abuse. The main focus of the research is on prevention efforts which include socialisation and training in the community, as well as repressive actions and early prevention carried out by law enforcement officials. In addition, the research also identified barriers faced by investigators, such as budget shortages, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and a shortage of narcotics investigators. This research found that collaboration between Malang City Police, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), and the community is very important in preventing and handling drug cases. To overcome these obstacles, it is recommended to increase budget allocations, provide better facilities and infrastructure, and increase the number and capacity of investigating officers. Greater public socialisation and education on the dangers of drugs is also needed to increase public awareness and participation in prevention efforts. Thus, a holistic and collaborative approach is expected to increase the effectiveness of handling drug cases in Malang City.
