Abstract
Background : The presence of an infected diabetic foot ulcer causes gangrene, which increases the risk of amputation if untreated, the impact caused by amputation medical procedures is physical problems, mental problems, and psychosocial problems. Diabetic foot ulcer with amputation causes a person to lose their limbs, individuals who experience amputation will have an impact on psychosocial problems. Objective : To determine the description of psychosocial conditions in patients who experience amputation caused by thype II DM. Research Methods : The research has used a qualitative design with a case study approach. The selection of participants has been carried out using purposive sampling method, while data collection uses semi-structured interviews and field
notes, with triangulation of data sources as a validity test and analyzed using domain analysis. Research Result : The study obtained 9 themes, namely, participants have gone through all stages of the grieving process, the emergence of anxiety before diabetic foot surgency, the emergence of body image disturbances due to amputation, the emergence of situational low self-esteem due to diabetes melitus disease suffered, the emergence of physical mobility barriers due to dm disease, the emergence of barriers to social interaction due to amputation, the emergence of role performance ineffectiveness due to amputation, spiritual enhancement behavior, social support seeking behavior. Discussion : Individuals with diabetes melitus who are amputees are prone to negatuve fellings, emotional instability and stress due to the changes they experiences as a result of their illness.
