Abstract

Background: Stroke causes a lot of impact for the sufferer. The impact experienced by stroke patients varies greatly, for example patients can experience physical disability, limited activity, lifestyle changes, cognitive disorders, emotional disorders, or even total dependence for a long time. Stroke can affect the psychological condition of patients such as feeling isolated, unstable emotions to depression. These changes require the individual's ability to overcome these problems or what we know as coping strategies. Purpose: Know coping strategies in stroke patients. Method: The research method used by the researcher uses qualitative methods with case studies to the subject to examine the scientific situation regarding the problems experienced by the subject, in this study validated by triangulation of direct interviews to 3 participants. Results: 5 themes were obtained, namely 1) Emotional response, 2) Stress handler, 3) Family support, 4) Seeking social support, 5) Spiritual improvement. Conclusion: Patients have good coping strategies in managing their stress, so that they can support the healing process.
