Abstract

Background: Stroke is one of the main health problems in the world. The journey of stroke treatment can take quite a long time, so patience is needed in undergoing treatment. Treatment over a long period of time has the potential to cause fatigue, boredom and burden on sufferers so that they feel like giving up on treatment and not continuing treatment. Commitment is required in the stroke treatment process where this is influenced by perceptions and behavior that can influence the success of treatment for stroke sufferers. Objective: To find out how the patient's perception and behavior during the stroke treatment process is carried out. Method: The research method used by the researcher was a qualitative method with a case study of the subject to examine what the subject's perception and behavior of stroke treatment had been like so far. In this study, it was validated by triangulating direct interviews with 3 participants. Results: From the results of this research, the results of analysis using research data obtained by researchers from interviews and validated by participants obtained 4 themes. In the perception of treatment, there was a theme of positive thinking during treatment. Three themes were found in treatment behavior, namely 1 ) Emotional instability, 2) Non-compliance with treatment, 3) seeking treatment, Conclusion: Positive perceptions and behavior towards treatment in stroke patients can improve recovery, compared to negative perceptions and behavior which will slow down and reduce health conditions.
