PERAN KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL TERHADAP PENYESUAIAN SOSIAL SISWA

Humans are basically social creatures which encourage humans to interact or communicate with
each other. Adolescence is a period of development that is between childhood and adulthood.
Part of the task of adolescent development that is difficult to do is something related to social
adjustment. So the aim of this research is to determine the role/influence of interpersonal
communication on students' social adjustment. This research uses a correlational quantitative
approach. The respondents in this study were 115 junior high school students taken by
incidental sampling. The research instrument used an interpersonal communication scale and a
social adjustment scale. Data analysis was carried out using simple linear regression analysis
with the help of the SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) program. The results of
data analysis obtained a beta (β) value of 0.830 with p = 0.000 (p<0.05). This shows that there
is an influence of interpersonal communication on students' social adjustment. The research
results also found that the coefficient of determination R2 was 0.690. This means that
interpersonal communication contributes 69% to social adjustment, the rest is influenced by
other variables not studied.
