Abstract

Counting is a child's ability to recognize the concept of numbers and number symbols. As is known, children prefer to play rather than learn. When learning children feel bored or boring, it is because of monotonous learning media. Therefore, researchers will use smart box games. A smart box is a small box in which there are tools for learning. This study aims to see whether there is an influence of smart box games on counting skills in children aged 5-6 years. This research method uses Quasi Experimental with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research consists of 2 classes, namely experimental class and control class. The sample in the study consisted of 22 children in Dharma Wanita Perpersatuan Kindergarten. It consists of 11 experimental class children and 11 control class children. The results of the study found that smart box games can improve counting skills in children aged 5-6 years. This can be seen from the results of the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test, from the results of the Wilcoxon test it is known that the experimental class gets a Z value of -2.971 and p = 0.003 (p <0.05). While the control class obtained a Z value of -3.317 and p = < 0.001 (p <0.05). This shows that by providing smart box games can improve counting skills in children. Furthermore, the results of the mann whitney test Z values of -4.001 and p = <0.001 (p <0.05), can be interpreted that there is a difference in values between experimental and control classes.
