Abstract
The application of scientific literacy and digital literacy in science learning still faces several challenges. One of them is the low selection of teaching resources and learning methods which are only focused on the teacher. Thus, students are less active during the learning process and this causes the low level of student scientific literacy in Indonesia. Digital literacy is also faced by several obstacles such as limited internet and digital media.
The aim of this research is to determine the application of scientific literacy and digital literacy in science learning. This research approach is qualitative and quantitative with a mixed method research type. The subjects studied were class VII students at SMP Negeri 26 Malang, SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Dau, MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang City and MTsN Batu City. Data collection techniques include surveys and tests. Then the data analysis technique uses Microsoft Excel by looking for the average (mean), frequently occurring values (mode) and Standard Deviation (SDT).
The results of this research show that scientific literacy at junior high school level is still low. This occurs due to the lack of teachers in providing feedback on student performance during learning. Teachers rarely give students practice in solving problems related to analyzing and finding conclusions. So, the results of the test questions to measure the scientific literacy knowledge of MTs
Muhammadiyah 1 Malang City students with 27 students got a mean of 8.78 and a standard deviation of 2.67. Batu City MTsN with 24 students got a mean of 11.38 and a standard deviation of 3.49. Muhammadiyah 06 Dau Middle School with 29 students got a mean of 9.34 and a standard deviation of 3.12. SMP Negeri 26 Malang with 31 students got a mean of 10.13 and a standard deviation
of 3.50. Meanwhile, teachers are still not used to using digital media in learning. The lack of teacher ability to develop learning media in digital form is one of the obstacles in implementing digital literacy. Teachers in several schools are not used to packaging assignments in digital media. So there is a lack of application
of digital literacy in learning.
