ANALISIS FRAMING PEMBERITAAN PEMBATALAN INDONESIA SEBAGAI TUAN RUMAH PIALA DUNIA U-20 PADA MEDIA KOMPAS.COM DAN REPUBLIKA ONLINE PERIODE MARET-APRIL 2023

The media, as the spearhead of conveying information to the wider community, has started to produce various news items, with numerous statements and information circulating. Conflicting information continues to spread, with certainty and truth not fully emerging. As a result, debates and questions arise in the public sphere. The way language is conveyed, the perspective taken in news reporting, and the way the media packages the end of information significantly influence public reception. The 2023 U-20 World Cup, a prestigious international sports competition, was canceled in Indonesia during that period. According to data from dataindonesia.id from a survey conducted by Ipsos in September 2022, 69% of Indonesia's 275.77 million population at the time were fans of the sport. During the news coverage of the issue of Indonesia's cancellation as the host of the U-20 World Cup, the online media Kompas.com and Republika Online framed the news on this issue differently.

This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm. The objects in this study are articles related to the issue of Indonesia's cancellation as the host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup displayed by Kompas.com and Republika Online from March 30 to April 7, 2023. Data collection techniques include documentation studies. The data analysis technique used is Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model with four analytical devices: Define Problems, Diagnose Causes, Make Moral Judgements, and Treatment Recommendations. Mass Media Construction serves as the theoretical foundation for understanding how an event is reconstructed by media workers to be delivered to the public.

Based on the research results with six news items obtained, the findings related to the news coverage of Indonesia's cancellation as the host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup show that Kompas.com framed and constructed the news by presenting reports that led public opinion to narrate the reasons for Indonesia's cancellation as the host. On the other hand, Republika Online presented news that showed emotional responses narrating the consequences or impacts of Indonesia's cancellation as the host of the U-20 World Cup. Kompas.com and Republika Online differ in presenting news, particularly in framing and the sources used.
