Abstract

Autistic disorder is a quite complex developmental disorder, where it concerns communication, activity, imagination and social interaction. Autistic sufferers have various kinds of disorders, including communication, interaction, social, behavioral, sensory, playing patterns, as well as emotional temper tantrums. Temper tantrums are a normal part of development when children learn to control their emotions and gain independence. The importance of parental involvement and providing appropriate parenting patterns for children with autism, such as authoritative, authoritarian and permissive parenting, are the most important things that can have a big influence on the success of the child's growth and development. The aim of this research is to determine the differences between authoritative, authoritarian and permissive parenting styles in dealing with temper tantrums. This research was conducted quantitatively with a total of 102 subjects, using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this research were the Parenting Style and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) and MAP-DB. Analysis uses a linear regression test using the JASP application. The research results obtained show that there are differences in temper tantrums in terms of authoritative parenting patterns, authoritarian parenting patterns, and permissive parenting patterns in autistic children. Apart from that, authoritative parenting makes the biggest effective contribution compared to the other 2 parenting patterns, which means that authoritative parenting is a pattern appropriate parenting to deal with children's temper tantrums.
