Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of teaching reading strategies used by teachers in teaching reading and the steps involved in implementing these strategies. The research applied a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observations, and analysis involved data display, reduction, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. Participants included teachers at Annur Junior High School. The findings revealed five main strategies employed by teachers: scaffolding, think-aloud, reciprocal, QARs, and SQ3R. The dominant strategy was SQ3R, with a new strategy, ISQ3R (Interactive SQ3R), integrating interactivity into lessons. This innovative strategy enhanced the reading process, fostering deeper engagement and enriching the learning experience. It allowed teachers to tailor their approach to students' specific needs, enhancing classroom instruction efficiency.
