Abstract

The health diplomacy carried out by Taiwan, especially in Southeast Asia, is a very interesting thing to discuss, as we know that previously Taiwan was an isolated country in the international world, but during the Tsai Ing-Wen government the focus was on expanding regional politics to Asian countries. Southeast, South Asia and the Pacific in gaining a position in the international world through the New Southbound Policy. Therefore, this research is important to find out how health diplomacy was carried out by Taiwan as a supporter of the New Southbound Policy during the pandemic. This research aims to analyze how Taiwan's health diplomacy strategy supports the New Southbound Policy, which is the direction of Taiwan's foreign policy. Apart from that, health diplomacy is one way for Taiwan to participate in the international world to overcome Covid-19 because Taiwan is a country in Asia that has succeeded in handling the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic well. The methodology used in this research is descriptive research which describes the subject or research subjects studied objectively, as well as the appropriate frequency. The descriptive research type approach aims to describe people's behavior, phenomena, and certain activities systematically, as well as this research seeks to describe Taiwan's Health Diplomacy strategy in supporting the New Southbound Policy.
