Abstract
The Civil Registry and Population Office of Kotawaringin Timur Regency developed a system in the form of a website for online services to the community. The website aims to facilitate citizens in handling administrative matters without having to visit the office. However, during the system development, there was no user involvement. This is supported by a statement from a UI/UX expert mentioning that the website looks outdated, with disorganized content, improper placement of features, inappropriate color choices, and the use of incorrect font sizes. Therefore, research on the usability of the system is needed. Usability is defined to measure how easily a product can be used effectively, efficiently, and satisfactorily by its users. In this study, the evaluation and improvement of the interface design of the website were conducted, aligning with user needs using the Lean UX method. The research output is a user interface prototype, serving as a recommendation for the innovation team at the Civil Registry and Population Office of Kotawaringin Timur. After analyzing needs and designing improvements in the Thinking and Design phases, the evaluation was carried out in the Test phase with 30 respondents, including 5 UI/UX experts and 25 users. Based on the results of the System Usability Scale test on the previous design, 30 respondents gave an average SUS score of 23.08, falling into the F grade scale category and rated as Poor. Meanwhile, testing with the redesigned website using the same method and respondents resulted in a SUS score of 83.41, placing it in the B grade scale category and receiving an Excellent rating. Therefore, it can be concluded that the interface design improvement on the Civil Registry and Population Office website was successful and well-received by users, eliminating the need for a second iteration or further iterations.
