Abstract

Social media is a new media with internet technology that always attracts the attention of people in various circles. The TikTok application, as a viral application that is currently popular with the public, provides various features, one of which is the live streaming feature as a forum for users to carry out activities directly in front of the screen. Trends in live streaming content, such as live streaming challenges, invite users to give challenges to creators in the hope of a reward in the form of a gift that can be exchanged for a certain amount of money. The content presented includes mud bathing, eating chilies, eating grass, sleeping in graves, and other strange things that attract the attention of the audience. Of course, the trend of live content challenges can have an impact, both on oneself and others, especially on the maqashid sharia aspects of ḥifẓ al-aql and ḥifẓ al-māl. This research uses a qualitative approach and a case study type of research. The data source was obtained through observation of live streaming challenge content on the TikTok application.
The results of this research are that the practice of live streaming challenge content is another alternative for generating rupiah coffers with earnings in the form of gifts which are converted into money if they have been collected using the main disbursement steps of having a TikTok account and including a personal bank account. In terms of ḥifẓ al-aql. The practice of live challenges touches on the hajiyat and tahsiniyat levels, in the form of making things difficult and risking embarrassment. In terms of ḥifẓ al-māl, the law on giving gifts is permissible because there is no coercive action on the part of any party to give or not, so that the income obtained from live streaming is as valid as a gift. As is the rule of li al-wasaili hukmu al-maqashiid (use of media according to its purpose).
