Abstract
The research analyzes the Womenomics policy whose has been implemented by the Abe government cabinet in Japan. Womenomics in the Abe government known as the government's efforts to improve the welfare of women while also contribute to achieve gender equality by opening up job opportunities for them. By looking at the development of womenomics since Abe took office in government indicating that there has been an increase in female labor participation. And after analyzing the Womenomics policy using the Gender Equality concept, this research sees that there are several points from Womenomics that deserve criticism because they are tend to be symbolic policy with minimal implementation or commitment. And there is tendency to exploit women which ultimately worsen the gender gap in Japan. Such as the treatment of women who tend not to have the opportunity to hold a permanent position in a company and the wage gap. The method used in the research is a qualitative method which is used to explain the underlying reasons or situations in analyzing Womenomics. And the data analysis method is reductionist because the Womenomics policy is a lower explanatory unit than the unit of analysis, namely gender equality. and using the available data, the following research carries out reasoning on the facts found.
