Abstract
One form of human trafficking that often occurs is sexual exploitation, with modus operandi such as karaoke or cafe waitresses who end up becoming Commercial Sex Workers (PSK). Victims of human trafficking with the aim of sexual exploitation currently involve children. The formulation of the problem in this research is the factors that cause the crime of child trafficking with the aim of sexual exploitation through social media and the role of the police in overcoming this crime in the Pasuruan Regency area by the Pasuruan Police. The aim of this research is to determine the background factors and police efforts in dealing with these criminal acts. The method used in this research is the sociological juridical (empirical) method, which focuses on research to obtain an empirical understanding of the law through direct observation of the object through interviews, literature studies and documentation studies. There are factors that cause a person to commit a crime. First, the factor of limited employment opportunities, the difficulty of finding work causes an increase in crime cases. Second, economic factors, a person's bad attitude towards fulfilling life's needs tends to do anything, even criminal acts. Third, the educational factor, a person's low level of education tends to result in unemployment and moral illness. Furthermore, the causal factors within the victim make him/herself both a victim and a perpetrator. First, economic factors, someone in a low class tends to commit crime as an alternative to solving their problems. Second, the technological development factor, favorable conditions for criminals. Third, the promiscuity factor may influence the child's personality. Fourth, the factor of lack of parental attention, some children commit criminal acts because they have a less than harmonious relationship with their family. Fifth, the Divorce Factor, as a result of divorce the victim will commit deviant actions. The police's efforts are to use pre-emptive, preventive and repressive measures. Suggestions from this research are that the government can provide facilities to children who are hindered by economic costs and provide employment opportunities, as well as to the police to add personnel and IT training, and increase the intensity of outreach.
