Abstract
Cauliflower (Brassicca oleracea var. botrytis) is one of the commercially valuable vegetables with high demand for domestic food supply. Efforts to enhance plant production can be undertaken through a plant breeding program. The initial step involves the characterization to understand the characteristics and morphological features of an individual as a guide for parent selection. The research objective is to obtain qualitative and quantitative information on the characteristics of 5 candidate F1 cauliflower varieties and to determine the level of diversity in characters compared to 5 candidate F1 reference varieties. The study was conducted from March to May 2022 in the experimental field of CV. Aura Seed Indonesia. The research utilized the single-plant method, planting in the same environment without replication. The total population was 340 plants with 50 observed samples. Data analysis was performed using a descriptive method to elaborate on the results of cluster analysis in the form of a dendrogram with a percentage of similarity. Statistical tests were conducted to determine differences between the test F1 varieties and the reference F1 varieties using Independent Samples t-test with the SPSS application. The results of qualitative observations revealed differences in leaf edge wavy character, cross-sectional curd shape, curd dome, and curd bead. For quantitative characteristics, there was similarity observed through cluster analysis, with the highest similarity being 83.03% in F1 varieties 2498 and 2499. The t-test results indicated no significant difference between the test F1 varieties and the reference F1 varieties.
