Abstract
Air pollution due to the transportation sector has contributed as much as 80% is followed by emissions from industry, forest fires and household activities. The Malabar city forest can not only function as a water catchment area but also used as a space for public activities based on conservation green areas and plays an important role in absorbing and storing carbon in in biomass. This research aims to determine the magnitude of the potential carbon reserves stored above ground in Malabar urban forests and determine the potential for absorption of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas in the urban forests of Malabar City Poor. Research data consists of tree height, tree diameter, wet weight undergrowth and dry weight of undergrowth. The tree data taken is all individual stands in Malabar City Forest, understory plant data taken using plots measuring 0.5 m x 0.5 m in a total of 16 plots. Measurement Wet weight and dry weight are carried out in the University forestry laboratory Muhammadiyah Malang. The results of the Malabar urban forest research have diversity of 96 types of vegetation with a total of 1,490 individuals. Analysis results Malabar city forest carbon reserves are 236.2174 tons/ha, where 219.4124 tonnes/ha in trees and 16.8049 tonnes/ha in undergrowth. Carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption was 866.9177 tonnes/ha, of which 805.2436 tons/ha on trees and 61.6741 tons/ha on undergrowth. Trembesi is the type of tree with the largest amount of carbon reserves so that the service It is hoped that the environment will be able to plant these trees to increase the number A stand of trembesi trees in the Malang Malabar city forest.
