AN ANALYSIS OF SLANG LANGUAGE USED BY LIM JUGYEONG AS “PRETTY GIRL” IN YAONGYI ENGLISH VERSION WEBTOON “TRUE BEAUTY”

The use of slang, popularly used in conversation, is generally used in casual conversation. Slang is not just utilized in direct conversation, it is also quite entertaining to employ on online platforms, such as character conversations in webtoons. Like the popular webtoon "True Beauty" by Yaongyi in English version of this webtoon, makes extensive use of slang in its interactions. This research attempts to familiarize readers with the types and meanings of slang used on the webtoon platform. The method used is descriptive qualitative, which involves collecting data by making observations, articulating its meaning, and validating it. The object of this study is a webtoon-based comic with the English title "True Beauty". This study looks at the many types and meanings of slang words seen on objects in comics. This research resulted in the finding that there are 4 types of slang and 4 types of meanings in the use of slang used in episodes 1–8 by Lim Jugyeong as “pretty girl” in the Yaongyi English version of "True Beauty" webtoon.
