Abstract
Background: The most important problem in children with appendicitis is lower right abdominal pain which really interferes with the child's activities and causes discomfort. Therefore, problems that arise need to be resolved immediately. In this final scientific work, we highlight the case of Ms. A who complained of pain due to acute appendicitis. For this reason, this final scientific work aims to explain the application of Katharine Kolcaba's comfort theory to Ms.A with acute appendicitis.
Method: The research method used in preparing this final scientific work uses a case study report. The author follows the scientific method according to the rules of the nursing process including: Assessment, Data Analysis, Nursing Intervention, Implementation and Evaluation. In the assessment process the author used various data collection techniques such as Anamnesis, Observation, Documentation Study and Physical Examination to collect various data from the patient, namely Ms. A. To complete the data, the author also conducted interviews with Ms. A's family.
Results: After providing nursing care for 3 consecutive days, the author raised 2 nursing diagnoses, namely: acute pain related to physiological disorders and sleep pattern disorders related to environmental obstacles. All of these two diagnoses can be resolved with Katharine Kolcaba's Comfort theory approach.
Conclusion: The action that the nurse has taken is to teach deep breathing relaxation techniques and then also teach distraction techniques based on Katharine Kolcaba's theory of comfort and also environmental comfort. This is not enough, so the recommendation needed for patients is relaxation therapy by listening to music or murrotal
