Abstract
Background : Combustio or burn is a condition where the skin is damaged due to exposure to excessive heat or chemicals. According to Riskesdas data, in 2018 the prevalence of burns in Indonesia reached 1.3%. Signs of symptoms that appear are pain that if left to last a long time will become chronic pain that interferes with activities.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of applying deep breath relaxation techniques on pain in Mr. S with a diagnosis of combustio grade III.
Method : This study used the case study report method with 1 respondent with Combustio. Data collection was carried out by interview, observation, physical examination and documentation studies. Research intervention is the provision of deep breath relaxation techniques in acute pain with medical diagnosis of Combustio as an alternative action in reducing pain.
Results : After giving deep breath relaxation techniques for 3 consecutive days, it was found that there was a periodic decrease in pain levels with different pain scales every day. This intervention is carried out for 3 days with a period of 30 minutes each therapy administration.
Conclusion : The administration of deep breath relaxation techniques can significantly reduce pain levels in Combustio patients.
