Abstract

The purpose of this research is: (1) to describe the implementation of student literacy at SD Muhammadiyah 8 “K.H. Mas Mansur” Malang City; (2) to analyze the inhibiting and supporting factors of the implementation of student literacy; (3) and to describe the school’s effort to solve the inhibiting factors for the implementation of student literacy.
This research uses qualitative research. The subjects of this research, are the head of literacy, homeroom teachers, and students in grades 1-6. The data on this research was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis of this research is qualitative descriptive data.
The results of the research are: (1) the implementation of student literacy at SD Muhammadiyah 8 “K.H. Mas Mansur” Malang City is implemented in accordance with the vision and mission and goals of the school; (2) the implementation of student literacy is carried out in accordance with the three stages, namely the stage of habituation, development, and learning; (3) the inhibiting factors of student literacy are, the lack of variations in student reading book, the lack of understanding of students in write their own written works, and limited time in guiding students to write online; (4) the supporting factors for students literacy, are the availability of reading corner in each class, the availability of a library, and availability of a place to publish the writings of the works of students and teachers; (5) the school’s effort to solve the inhibiting factors, namely increasing reading or reference books, providing understanding to students on how to write correctly, and creating a website to accommodate the works of students.
