Abstract
The use of directive speech acts in da'wah is one form of using a variety of speech acts. Through directive speech acts a preacher can utilize the form of directive speech acts to call and invite listeners to carry out good actions in accordance with Islamic commands. The purpose of the research is to describe the form and function of religious educative directive speech acts in millennial preaching.
In this study, researchers used descriptive qualitative research with a pragmatic approach. The research data is in the form of directive speech of millennial preachers containing religious education. The data source in this research is millennial preachers' dakwah videos downloaded from YouTube accounts. The videos used amounted to six videos of which each preacher took two videos. The data collection technique was carried out by listening to note taking technique. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.
The results showed the form and function of religious educative directive speech acts. In this study, five forms of directive speech acts were found, namely the form of orders, requests, invitations, advice, and prohibitions. The most dominating form of directive speech acts used by speakers is the use of command speech acts. This shows that preachers when preaching more express their wishes by giving orders to speech partners, so that speech partners want to do the order according to the wishes of the speaker. From the data of directive forms in the da'wah activity, eight functions of speech were found, namely the function of requiring, the function of instructing, the function of telling, the function of inviting, the function of preventing, the function of limiting, the function of suggesting, and the function of warning.
