Abstract
The participation of citizens in the political arena shows symptoms of sluggishness which is
indicated by a decrease in the quality and quantity of political participation. The
implementation of political participation is still threatened by the use of money politics
(money politics) in influencing the election process of a person. To deal with all these
problems, the government must reduce the number of abstentions, impose strict sanctions on
money politics, so that people's trust in the government and leader figures also increases. So
Bakesbangpol Lumajang Regency organizes Political Education to shape leadership
character in the younger generation and it is hoped that it will become a "politically
literate" young generation. Research using qualitative methods with a descriptive approach.
Data was collected through observation and interviews. The results of the study show that
the political education strategy carried out by Bakesbangpol through socialization, this
socialization can foster knowledge to the younger generation about politics and the
importance of politics in every process of government. Cakrawala thinks that the younger
generation will continue to increase along with individual understanding of politics, which
then stimulates first-time voters to participate fully in elections.
