Abstract

Travel exhibitions have become an important medium for the Japan Foundation in introducing Japanese culture to the Indonesian people. Cultural exchanges between the two countries are increasing along with the increasing interest of the Indonesian people in Japanese culture. This research aims to reveal the Japan Foundation's strategy in introducing Japanese culture through a travel exhibition program in Indonesia. This research involves a qualitative approach. Data analysis was carried out by detailing relevant findings from the literature and organizing them briefly and concisely. This approach allows the researcher to explore and present key findings from related literature in more depth and provides substantial insight into the context of this research. The results of the study found that the Japan Foundation succeeded in implementing an effective strategy through traveling exhibitions to disseminate a deeper understanding of Japanese culture. Apart from that, the NINGYO: Art and Beauty of Japanese dolls exhibition in Indonesia is a successful example of how cultural diplomacy can help strengthen relations between Japan and Indonesia. These activities have increased the Indonesian people's understanding of aspects of Japanese culture. It can be concluded that by adopting a comprehensive strategy, the Japan Foundation has succeeded in broadening the Indonesian people's understanding of Japanese culture through the travel exhibition program. This activity plays an important role in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries and encouraging broader and sustainable cultural exchanges in the future.
