Abstract

Generation Z in Malang Regency uses social media, particularly the repost feature on TikTok, as a primary platform for self-disclosure. This feature is frequently utilized as a form of indirect communication to convey emotional feelings, alongside the high reluctance of Generation Z to seek professional psychological help. Therefore, this study is grounded in the Johari Window theory developed by Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham. Methodologically, this research adopts a constructivist paradigm with an interpretive qualitative approach. Data were collected through online observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with participants selected using purposive sampling. The data were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model and validated through source triangulation. The findings reveal that the TikTok repost feature is actively used by Generation Z as an alternative medium for indirectly expressing their emotions. The feature enables users to represent their personal conditions and emotional experiences without providing explicit verbal explanations. Furthermore, emotional expression through digital discourse is influenced by social and cultural environments as well as prevailing digital trends, making reposting a safer and more acceptable way for Generation Z to respond to social dynamics.
