Abstract
Assertive behavior is the ability of an individual to confidently, honestly, and firmly communicate their desires while also considering the feelings of others. Assertive behavior is one of the essential social skills required by individuals with mild intellectual disabilities. This study aims to investigate the influence of role-playing therapy in enhancing assertive behavior in children with mild intellectual disabilities. This research adopts a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. The study involved a total of 10 participants who met the criteria for mild intellectual disabilities. The participants were assessed using the Simple-Rathus Assertiveness Schedule (S-RAS). They were divided into two groups, the experimental group and the control group, using a random assignment technique. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test. The results of this study indicate that there was no improvement in assertive behavior among children with mild intellectual disabilities following the implementation of role-playing therapy
