Abstract
Rumination is a thought process that is repeated and continuous in the face of difficulties. This thought process affect the psychological condition and life of the individual. Rumination correlates strongly with adding to and exacerbating depression. This study aims to determine the effect of acceptance and commitment therapy in reducing rumination in adults with depressive symptoms. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design approach. There were 10 subjects in this study who met the criteria for depressive symptoms. The subjects were given the Beck Depression Inventory-II scale. Subjects will be divided into two groups, the experimental and control groups, using the randomization technique. The data collection instrument in this study used the Ruminative Thought Style Questionnaire (RTSQ). Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that there was a significant decrease in rumination in adults with depressive symptoms in the experimental group who were given ACT treatment, and there was no decrease in rumination in the control group.
