Abstract
Music is one of the mass communication media that is able to convey messages, values, and emotions to the public effectively. Through lyrics and tones, music not only serves as entertainment, but also as a means to express feelings and social realities that are close to people's lives. One of the musical works that succeeded in conveying an emotional message in depth was the song Nina by the music group. Feast. This song raises the theme of a father's affection, sacrifice, and hope for his child which in Indonesian culture is often not expressed verbally, but is manifested through hard work, protection, and sacrifice for the happiness of the family. This study aims to analyze how the affection and sacrifice of a father are represented through the signs contained in the lyrics of the song Nina. Feast. This study uses an interpretive qualitative method with Roland Barthes' semiotic approach which includes three stages of meaning, namely denotation, connotation, and noodles The results of the study show that at the level of denotation, the lyrics of Nina's song describe the real life of a nomadic father who has to work away from his family. At the level of connotation, each lyric holds a deeper meaning about the sacrifice, commitment, regret, as well as sincere hope of a father whose affection is more often present through tangible actions than verbal expressions. On a mythical level, this song reflects cultural values that have long been rooted in Indonesian society, that the father figure is the protector and support of the family whose affection is most evident through hard work and sacrifice. Thus, Nina's song is not just an ordinary musical work, but a cultural representation that is rich in family values, love, and sacrifice that is very relevant to the life of the Indonesian people.
