Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of work-life balance on job satisfaction through employee engagement as a mediating variable among employees at the Bontang Utara II Community Health Center. This study employs a quantitative approach using an explanatory research design. The study population consisted of 51 employees, and total sampling was used, meaning the entire population served as the study respondents. Data collection was conducted through the distribution of a questionnaire using a 1-5 Likert scale and analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate that work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction and employee engagement. Additionally, employee engagement also has a positive and significant effect on employees’ job satisfaction. This study found that employee engagement mediates the effect of work-life balance on job satisfaction. These findings suggest that the better the balance between employees’ work and personal lives, the higher their engagement in their work, which ultimately enhances their job satisfaction. This study implies that healthcare organizations need to prioritize policies that support work-life balance and enhance employee engagement to foster optimal job satisfaction among employees.
