Abstract

This study examines the effect of social capital on farmers’ productivity in Bumianyar Village, Tanjung Bumi District, Bangkalan Regency, Madura. Social capital in this research is reflected through trust, social networks, social norms, and participation within farmer groups. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design and cross-sectional method. A total of 46 farmers were selected as respondents using simple random sampling. Data werecollected through structured questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using Spearman’s rho correlation test. The results indicate that most respondents have a moderate level of social capital (65.2%) and a moderate level of productivity (47.8%). The correlation analysis shows a significant relationship between social capital and farmers’ productivity, with a correlation coefficient of 0.621 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.01). This finding suggests a strong and positive relationship, meaning that higher levels of social capital are associated with increased farmers’ productivity. In conclusion, social capital plays a crucial role in improving agricultural productivity by enhancing cooperation, access to information, and efficiency in farming practices. Strengthening social capital is therefore essential to support sustainable agricultural development.
