Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has transformed education, including at the elementary school level. Students must not only master digital devices but also comprehend, evaluate, and utilize information responsibly. As a 21st-century skill, digital literacy supports IPAS learning by emphasizing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving in natural and social concepts. However, its application in elementary schools still faces obstacles, such as suboptimal technology use and the need for digital media guidance. This study aims to describe the implementation of optimized digital literacy to enhance critical thinking, creativity, and digital responsibility among fourth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Malang.

This study employed a descriptive qualitative method aimed at providing an in-depth description of the role of digital literacy in improving students’ critical thingking skills, creativity, and digital responsibility. The informants in this study were the teacher and fourth-grade students who were directly involved in the learning process. Data were collected through three main techniques, namely direct observation, in-depth interviews, and the examination of relevant documents. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while credibility testing was conducted through source triangulation and technique triangulation.

The findings reveal that digital literacy implementation in IPAS is running well. Critical thinking is evident in students' comprehension via educational videos, responses to teacher questions, and group discussions. Creativity appears in digital works like simple posters and comics created using Canva. Responsibility is shown through adherence to device rules, proper use of learning accounts, and awareness of personal data security. Main challenges include students needing guidance to summarize material, low confidence in developing new ideas, and suboptimal technology supervision at home.
