Abstract

Novita, Putri (2025). Development of Multisensory-Based “Geo Smart App” Learning Media for Grade IV Slow Learner Students in IPAS Subject. Thesis, Elementary School Teacher Education Department, FKIP, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Advisor: Ima Wahyu Putri Utami M.Pd.

This research is motivated by the difficulties of fourth-grade slow learner students in understanding abstract Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) materials, particularly regarding spatial comprehension such as map symbols, cardinal directions, and geographical locations. Conventional learning that still relies on printed textbooks and lecture methods has not been able to facilitate the learning style needs of slow learner students who require concrete visualization and repetition. Therefore, this study aims to describe the development of an Android-based learning media application called "Geo Smart App" using a multisensory approach (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic).
This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model, which consists of four stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The subjects of this study were teachers and fourth-grade slow learner students at SDN Sukun 2. Data collection was carried out using validation instruments assessed by material and media experts, as well as teacher and student response questionnaires to test the practicality of the media. The results showed that the "Geo Smart App" media was successfully developed and declared valid and feasible to use based on expert assessments. Based on the trials, the use of this application, which combines visual, audio, and touch interaction elements, proved to be practical and made it easier for slow learner students to visualize directions and geographical locations concretely.
