Abstract

Interpersonal communication is used to restore wives' trust in their husbands after an affair in Mojokerto City. Infidelity is a form of breach of trust that can cause a rift in a marital relationship. Therefore, interpersonal communication is a crucial aspect in the process of restoring relationships and rebuilding trust between couples. This study employed a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of married couples who had experienced infidelity but chose to maintain their marriage. The theory used in this study was Relationship Repair Theory as the primary theory, supported by Self-Disclosure Theory and Social Exchange Theory to strengthen the research analysis.
The results showed that interpersonal communication plays a crucial role in the process of rebuilding trust after an affair. Forms of interpersonal communication engaged in by couples include self-disclosure, honest communication, empathy, a willingness to listen to their partner, sincere apologies, and a commitment to repairing the relationship. In addition, the process of restoring relationships is carried out gradually through behavioral changes, transparency in communication, and efforts to rebuild emotional closeness.
