Abstract
Learning in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), particularly on the topic of Indonesian endemic animals, requires instructional media that can provide concrete learning experiences appropriate to elementary school students' characteristics. Based on observations and interviews conducted at SDN Punten 01 Batu City, digital media such as projectors and tablets have been utilized in the learning process to present instructional materials digitally. This condition indicates that digital facilities are already available and have the potential to be integrated with more interactive learning media. Therefore, innovative technology-based learning media are needed to help students understand the material in a more concrete and interactive manner. This study aimed to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media called Indonesian Endemic Zoo for fifth-grade elementary school students.
This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects included material experts, media experts, the fifth-grade teacher of class VA, and 25 fifth-grade students of SDN Punten 01 Batu City in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative approaches to support the development of the learning media.
The results showed that the Augmented Reality (AR)-based Indonesian Endemic Zoo learning media obtained a material expert validation score of 92.5% and a media expert validation score of 97.5%. The teacher response score reached 82.5%, while the students’ response score was 93.5%. The average score of students’ learning evaluation was 85.56. Therefore, the Augmented Reality (AR)-based Indonesian Endemic Zoo learning media is considered feasible for use in fifth-grade IPAS learning at the elementary school level.
