Abstract

The short fiction film Her Final Chapter addresses the issue of discrimination against female sex workers living with HIV/AIDS, as well as the emotional relationship between a mother and her child. In the production of this film, the Director of Photography (DOP) plays a crucial role in translating the screenplay and the director's vision into visual language that effectively supports the delivery of the story's message. This project employed a film production methodology consisting of three stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. Throughout these stages, the DOP was responsible for designing the visual concept through the creation of shot lists, floor plans, and photoboards, as well as managing lighting, image composition, camera movements, and supervising the color grading process. The results of this creative work demonstrate that the application of cinematographic techniques, including warm color tones, image composition, camera angles, camera movements, and lighting, successfully enhances the emotional atmosphere while reinforcing the portrayal of conflict and the relationship between the main characters. The role of the Director of Photography proved to be essential in maintaining visual consistency and effectively communicating the film's message to the audience.
